I am a Doctoral Researcher in environmental/materials chemistry based at the University of Birmingham and collaborating with Sheffield Hallam University for my work on Mossbauer spectrocopy (don’t ask). I am keen on science communication and advocate of public engagement with science (well, you can ask; it will challenge us both though!).
For crazy science blogging about chemistry catastrophes and errors, see my RSC blog.
I not only blog, but also write novels, with seventeen to date. Editing and agent-hunting is always on my daily list, and in my moments of procrastination I will also take an interest in literary events, articles and sites.
I am also a CWA certified climbing instructor working at Creation Climbing Centre and Skatepark and keen climber myself, leading a comfortable 6b.
Given the time, I like to cook and take pictures of my (vegetarian) food. The name potato skin belt springs from a comment made about me by one of my erstwhile housemates who noticed that I can never let anything go to waste.
