Don’t You Just Love Being a Chemist?

It’s a very colourful profession.

I have been spending the morning looking at Dulux Colour Charts. Yes I just did.

Working with air-sensitive samples often means they visibly degrade when left on the benchtop, but I was sure mine were doing this more slowly than they used to. The difference? They were drier. So comes a month, or a few weeks (depending on how long I can stick it out) of lining up samples on the benchtop and comparing them to colour charts as they gradually change from dull green to nearly brown – I’m sorry: Celtic Forest 2 to Golden Umber 5.

On the other hand, I’m developing a good eye for colour. My tea today is Bracken Salts 1.
